Class Description: Using portions of impressionist styled paintings as inspiration, we will try our hand at masters’ style of applying the paint as well as study their use of color to give the viewer the “impression” of the scene or objects.

Aimée is an art educator and has years of experience teaching. Some work outside the class will enhance your class experience.

February classes for new students who have not taken at least four (4) of Aimée’s classes will be on Thursdays:

Dates & Times:

  4. Thursday, February 26th, 2015

Time: 9:30am-11:30am (all dates)

Cost:

Society Members: $35
Non-Members: $40

Materials Needed:

  • Brushes
    • Flat firm oil/acrylic brushes (Filbert brushes are fine)
      • bring several – small, medium and larger: ¼”, ½” and ¾”)
    • Round brushes
      • Small, around #3, medium about #5 – #6, and about #8. Also bring other sizes if you have them (small detail brush)
  • Canvas
    • Canvas 11″x14″ (or close to this size)
      • Can be canvas board, stretched canvas
    • One extra canvas board 8″ x 10″ for color mix study (later we will need a 16″ x 20″)
    • Always bring an extra canvas to class.
  • Paints
    • Acrylic (oils are not prohibited)
      • Acrylic – medium or large tubes, no sample kit mini tubes.
        Look for true colors. If the label reads,”Hue”,  it is not going to give you the best result for these color studies. Example: a light shade of cobalt contains white. It won’t work for the first 4 classes.

        • 1st Class
          1. Alizarin Crimson = cool red
          2. Cadmium yellow – light or medium
          3. Cobalt Blue = cool blue
          4. Titanium white
          5. Cadmium red – light or medium = warm red
          6. We will add more paint as we go
  • Miscellaneous
    • Rags or Paper towels
    • 2 x Water containers
    • Pallet (a white Styrofoam plate will work)
    • A table top easel, if you have one
    • An apron/smock
    • Bring a snack if you like
  • SAC’s will make available:
    • Soap
    • water
    • cups for water
    • some paint colors
