Karin Johns has a lifelong interest in and love of art.
Before she ever went to school and throughout her school years, she enjoyed drawing and painting, and in school, her work was often chosen for display. Art runs in her family, as both her grandfather and father were painters.
Karin was born in Berlin, Germany, attended school there but received a Master’s Degree in Library Science from the University of Maryland, College Park. Throughout the years, she has taken many art classes and workshops, at the university level and with local artists, both in the U.S. and abroad.
She paints in oil and watercolor and also does pencil and pen & ink sketches. She enjoys capturing the beauty of simple everyday and many times overlooked things. She believes art should be uplifting both to the “maker” of it and the “receiver.”
Karin’s work has been accepted in juried shows, has won many awards, and is on display at SAC’s Gallery in Montgomery.
