For Nancy Mitchell, painting and drawing have come late in life.
The drawing project was initiated via three semesters at a Junior College near Huntsville, Alabama, after retirement from Boeing.
Later, both drawing and Acrylic painting were guided in an academic setting in Shepherds Town, West Virginia. The total in West Virginia was one semester of drawing and two semesters of painting. That is the extent of my academic experience.
Since Shepherds Town, I have worked in a group under the tutelage of a former high school art teacher, and I have attended workshops that were appropriate to my objectives when available.
Significant influence has come from studying the work and the writings of Richard Schmid and an artist named Quang Ho. Actual instruction from Roger Dale Brown has completed a somewhat limited artistic education.
In the parlance of professionals, I am an outside artist.
