Instructor: Aimée Harbin

Class Description: Using portions of impressionist styled paintings as inspiration, we will try our hand at masters’ style of applying the paint as well as study their use of color to give the viewer the “impression” of the scene or objects.

Aimée is an art educator and has years of experience teaching. Some work outside the class will enhance your class experience.

Class Prerequisite:

Impressionist Style painting or permission from instructor Aimée Harbin.

Time: 9:30am – 11:30am (all dates)

Cost:

Society Members: $60 (per 4-week course)
Non-Members: $80 (per 4-week course)

Materials Needed:

  • Brushes
    • Flat firm oil/acrylic brushes (Filbert brushes are fine)
      • bring several – small, medium and larger: ¼”, ½” and ¾”)
    • Round brushes
      • Firm, small, around #3, medium about #5 – #6, and about #8. Also bring other sizes if you have them (small detail brush)
  • Canvas
    • Canvas 11″x14″ (or close to this size)
      • Can be canvas board, stretched canvas
    • One extra canvas board 8″ x 10″ for color mix study
    • Always bring an extra canvas to class.
  • Paints
    • Acrylic
      • Medium or large tubes, no sample kit mini tubes.
        Look for true colors. If the label reads,”Hue”,  it is not going to give you the best result for these color studies.

        • 1st 4 Classes
          1. Cadmium yellow light
          2. (Dark) Cobalt Blue
          3. Titanium white
          4. Cadmium red – light or vermillion
          5. We will add more paint colors as we move into the next group of paints.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Rags or Paper towels
    • 2 x Water containers
    • Pallet (no small watercolor trays with small wells.  You need room to work with the paint and room for larger brushes.  A flat pallet or foam plates work great.  One with a lid is also good.)
    • A table top easel, if you have one
    • An apron/smock
    • Bring a snack if you like
  • SAC’s will make available:
    • Soap
    • Water
    • Cups for water
    • Some paint colors
